65 Club Cheval & Wrestlemania 34 (mostly)

Warning: a LOT on Wrestlemania before we get to Club Cheval.

Horsies! A club of them, that is. Club Cheval returned to Portugal in 2016. Panteros, Sam Tiba, Canblaster and Myd tell Antonio about types of discipline, where not to go, the difference between Dutch transe and Chopin… and video games: making music for them and which of them they play! Et pourquoi les mecs préfèrent les enquiquineuses? Sorry for the terrible audio quality at the end of the chat.

64 The Veldt & RIP Manuel Reis

Chavises! The Veldt are back in 2017 with two EPs. And we got to speak to them last year at Reverence in Portugal before any of this happened! It’s a funny old world. A quick warning: it was really windy and unexpectedly noisy, so apologies to everyone.

Daniel, Danny, Marvin and Hayato speak to Antonio about serious issues like being a black artist, mental health in the black community and living in America. But also soap opera problems, hot dog music, time out to meet the fans, time out again to stand in front of the camera, The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation, the Cocteau Twins and Ennio Morricone.

63 Alex Cameron & Roy Molloy

Mums! The wonderful Alex Cameron and Roy Molloy offer us beer. And they talk to Antonio about the new album Forced Witness, celiac disease, trucker disco, who does what, horn bands from Sweden, being in love, if it’s really water, Internet screen names, the importance of mums and shutting down the lights.

62 A Place to Bury Strangers

Strangers! A place to bury them, that is. A Place to Bury Strangers are on Made of Things! Oliver, Dion and John talk to Antonio at Reverence last year about the weather, shows that aren’t quite booked, how Portugal is the foremost thing, which animals to protect (spoiler: most), tough shit, Serena Maneesh, destroying venues and the most intense bands ever.

61 Dillinger Escape Plan: Ben Weinman

At last! As the Dillinger Escape Plan reached their closure, we got Ben Weinman on the show! One of Antonio’s all time favorites, breaking up DEP was hardly reason to celebrate. So this gets more serious than usual, but we also talk onesies and Manowar and the concept of olive oil.

60 Sunflower Bean & absence 2

Bean… s! Sunflower Bean! Julia, Jacob and Nick are on this episode of Made of Things. “Human Ceremony” was Antonio’s number 1 pick for album of the year in 2016 so they speak about the record, apologizing about the weather, being fans of classics, the year 2013, which music to give to your children, how many shows they’ve played and being the coolest!

59 Howe Gelb & absence

Chill! Our old friend Howe Gelb is on Made of Things for the first time. Howe takes Antonio down to his preferred energy level. They speak about “Future Standards”, but also food, DNA testing, North vs South, Glastonbury vs Primavera Sound, options in moving to Portugal, the core of existence with Leslie Feist and understanding Leonard Cohen.
